Ten years later, she got to test her hypothesis on the New Orleans bayou water. This implies that she didn't yet have the antibody test when we she was making her Chesapeake Bay claims. But since she would presumably believe that she was right to have thought that V.c was present in the Chesapeake, she would assume that her antibody test would have detected its presence. This is a reasonable idea to derive from the passage, but what a silly answer to the way the question stem was phrased. The answer we pick is supposedly a view she holds regarding V.c, and the answer feels way more like a view she has regarding her life history, that happens to involve V.c.
